Introduction

Welcome to Slice. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, store, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us, including:

Health and Fitness Data

Slice can optionally connect to Apple Health (iOS) and Health Connect (Android) to enrich the matches you log with workout data. This connection is entirely optional and only activated after you explicitly grant permission via the system permission dialog.

Health data types we access

With your permission, we read the following data types only for the time window of a workout that overlaps with a match you have logged or are about to log:

We do not access steps, sleep, weight, height, body fat, blood pressure, blood glucose, oxygen saturation, body temperature, nutrition, hydration, reproductive or menstrual health, mental health, mindfulness, medications, or any other Apple Health / Health Connect data type.

How we use health data

Health data is used exclusively to:

Health data is never sold, never shared with advertisers, never used for advertising or marketing, never used to train machine-learning models, and never used for any purpose other than displaying it on the specific match it belongs to.

How health data is stored and shared

Health data attached to a logged match is stored on our servers (Hetzner, located in the European Union) alongside that match. If you set the match to public, the heart-rate, calories, and distance for that match are visible to other Slice users on that match's detail page. If your profile is private, the data is only visible to your approved followers. Health data is never shared with third parties other than the cloud-hosting providers required to operate the service.

Retention and deletion of health data

Health data is retained only for as long as the associated match exists. You can remove it at any time:

You can revoke health permissions at any time, independently of the app:

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited information with:

Artificial Intelligence and Automated Processing

We do not share your data with, or allow it to be processed by, any external artificial-intelligence provider or third-party AI or data-processing service. This applies to all data we hold about you, including your account details, your matches and statistics, your photos and videos, and any health, fitness or activity data you connect from a third-party service.

Specifically, and without exception:

Health and activity data you connect from a third-party platform — including Apple Health and Google Health Connect — is covered by the AI commitment above in full. It is never sent to an AI service, never used to train a model, never sold, and never shared for advertising, profiling or resale.

There is one case in which health data leaves Slice, and it happens only because you asked for it. If you connect Strava, Slice posts the matches and trainings you log to your own Strava account on your behalf. That post contains the session details and, where available, your average and maximum heart rate and your calories for that session. This applies only to accounts that have explicitly connected Strava, only to your own activities, and it stops the moment you disconnect Strava in the app. Apart from this, your health data is not shared with any third party.

Slice does analyse your match videos automatically to detect rallies and build highlights. That analysis is not artificial intelligence performed by a third party: it runs either directly on your own device or on our own servers in the European Union, using our own audio and video processing. Your video is never sent to an outside service for analysis.

Data Retention

We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to provide the service and comply with our legal obligations:

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), access controls, and isolated infrastructure in the European Union. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children's Privacy

Slice is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information at any time through your account settings, or by contacting us. You can also withdraw consent for optional data (such as Health data) at any time through your device's system settings.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
